Welcome to The Peach! Thank you for listening!
WHPH (97.7 FM, “The Peach”) is a radio station licensed to serve Jemison, Alabama. The station is now owned by Great South Wireless, LLC.
Our station is known for airing oldies music that most of our listeners consider to be “superhits” from when they were growing up. Whether they were introduced to the music by parents or even grandparents, our listeners tune in to our show to get a taste of their all-time favorite songs. The station’s playlist consists primarily of Top 40 hits from the late ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. We are also the Birmingham-area affiliate of the John Tesh radio program. On Sundays, we provide listeners with religious programs and Christian praise and worship music until 12 pm, and then we resume the oldies hits throughout the rest of the afternoon. The Peach broadcasts to Central Alabama and the southern Birmingham area. We proudly serve Clanton, Maplesville, Alabaster, Pelham, Thorsby, Helena and Montevallo, among other communities.
In August 2003, longtime owner Southeastern Broadcasting Company, Inc., reached an agreement to sell The Peach to Great South RFDC, LLC. The deal was approved by the FCC on October 30, 2003, and the transaction was consummated on November 28, 2003.
The Peach, previously known as WEZZ-FM since 1982, was assigned the WHPH call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on January 26, 2006.
In January 2007, we were acquired by Great South Wireless LLC from Great South RFDC LLC as part of a six station deal.
